Missouri is in the center of the country and at the center of the battle between the far-right and more moderate people.
In the old days Missouri brought you President Harry Truman and Walter Concrite. In the 2006 election, Senator Claire McCaskill won in Missouri, and helped to change the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. She has already made her mark, investigating conditions in our Veteran’s Hospitals, and taking steps to improve care for those veterans. She’s taken a tough stand on earmarks.
In order to win in Missouri you have to win in the rural areas as well as in the cities.
The Missouri Women’s Leadership Coalition is in a unique position to get out the vote for progressive candidates throughout the state. Our coalition members are mainstream organizations who are community leaders in small towns as well as large cities. They are already smart women. MWLC works to hone their skills to be effective grassroots workers.
What happens in Missouri impacts the rest of the country. It’s worth it to help us change politics, even if you are thousands of miles away.

What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but as a swing state, the politicians Missouri sends to Washington D.C. impact the whole county. Senator Kit Bond has announced that he will retire from the Senate, and Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has announced that she will run in 2010. She is the daughter of the late Governor Mel Carnahan, and Senator Jean Carnahan who served in the Senate after Governor Carnahan died tragically in a plane accident. Robin Carnahan has the great intelligence, moral courage, and common sense that we Missourians value in the Carnahan family. We all need her problem solving skills, vision, and ability to work with people on both sides of the aisle in Washington D.C.
We want to be on the ground working to support Secretary of State Robin Carnahan and other progressive women in throughout Missouri. Please help us with a donation! |
