Could you be elected?
Did you ever consider running for public office? If so, what stopped you? Were you concerned about raising money? Did you wonder if you had enough experience? Did you worry about who would fix dinner for the family?
MWLC was formed to pass on the expertise and personal insights from women who've run for office and managed campaigns. They have juggled the many roles demanded of women, and managed to take their place at the table in public office. MWLC takes their training seminars on the road to help you learn how to:
• Assess your political viability
• Work your way up the political ladder
• Define your positions
• Organize your campaign
• Raise enough money to win
• Manage the press
• Obtain endorsements
• Rally supporters and get those votes!
Consider a Workshop
Each training workshop covers the basics of campaigning and addresses some of the special issues that confront women who run.
Workshops can benefit prospective candidates as well as women who want to manage campaigns or work on them.
Workshops can range from a 30-minute presentation to a full morning seminar with lunch. Depending on time, a typical workshop might include the following topics:
• How to make a campaign plan. Making a road map that keeps the candidate and her workers on the same path is essential to success.
• Activating grassroots support is crucial to winning elections. We'll teach you how to find and organize volunteers to help you reach out to enough voters to win.
• How to raise money. Learn how to be your own "rainmakers." Do research on how much you need to win.
• How to state your position on controversial issues such as reprodutive choice and ratifying the ERA.
• How to assess your political viability. Have you a track record to run on? How's your name recognition? Can you raise funds?
• How to manage press contacts.
